Buildingscience.com was started by Building Science Corporation almost 20 years ago to share knowledge and resources with the construction and design community. BSC has developed the website into a highly regarded portal for free, objective, science-based knowledge.

The buildingscience.com project is now in a stage of expansion and BSC has been joined by a growing group of Industry Contributors. Our Contributors play a dual role in the project. First, their contributions support the business infrastructure of the website, allowing us to devote more resources to developing content. Just as importantly, Contributors add depth and breadth to our site by engaging in dialogue about critical building science issues. BSC has invited a staff member from each Contributor - in each case, a recognized industry expert - to contribute to this dialogue. Their industry-specific insider perspectives will complement the expertise of our authors and create a richer reading experience. BSC ensures a consistent high standard of quality in the information provided. For more details, please see Contributor Roles.

We thank the following Contributors for their support of this exciting process.

TopBuild Home Services

TopBuild Home Services is a home performance leader. The company offers a national, turnkey home performance program to residential builders through the Environments For Living® and Environments For Living Certified Green® programs.

The Environments For Living® program provides a complete package of services to builders in applying the principles of building science to new home construction. By focusing on the home as a system of systems, the program helps builders construct homes that are more energy efficient, comfortable and durable than conventional code‐built homes.

The Environments For Living® program is prescriptive and performance‐based, and does not require builders to use any particular manufacturer's product. Builders must follow specific requirements for tight construction, fresh air ventilation, improved thermal systems, rightsized HVAC equipment, air pressure balancing, internal moisture management and combustion safety.

The Environments For Living Certified Green® program adds requirements for indoor water conservation and lighting and appliance efficiency, for enhanced homeowner and environmental benefits.
